One more HPG member laid to rest

Murat Çetiner (Yılmaz Amed), one out of eight People Defense Force (HPG) members who lost their life during an armed clash in the countryside of Yayladere District of Bingöl Province two months ago, was laid to rest today in his home town in the Kuyuluhöyük (Hesberî) Village of the Çınar District of Diyarbakır. All eight deceased HPG members were buried in a nameless grave in Istanbul without their families consent. 18

Islamic memorial services were held today in Şırnak, Diyarbakır, Adıyaman, Mardin, Elazığ, Urfa, Van, Bitlis, Ağrı, Muş, Iğdır, Erzurum and some of their districts to commemorate 34 people died in the Roboski massacre 40 days ago. 12

Letter to Öcalan undelivered no reason

A letter to PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan from his uncle Süleyman Aslan (80) has been returned to him without explanation. Aslan said he would carry out legal proceedings about the post office officials and added that he thought the police were involved in the incident. 3

20 arrested in police raids in Kızıltepe, Yüksekova and Hilvan

Nine were arrested in the early morning today in police raids in the Kızıltepe District of Mardin. The detainees include Kızıltepe Vice Mayor Şerife Alp, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Kızıltepe Branch Bookkeeper M. Salih Ateş, Education Support Home former Coordinator Emrullah Tunç, the Association for the Research and Development of the Kurdish Language (KURDÎ-DER) Executive Board Member Hatice Öncü and BDP members Selahattin Ece and Mehmet Kılınç. 1
- 12 jailed, DİHA reporter released 11:05 08.02.2012 Twelve, including Fırat Distribution staff members Şafak Çelen and Fatma Demir, were jailed yesterday on the grounds of being involved in KCK (Union of Kurdistan Communities) activities in Batman as DİHA reporter Gülsen Aslan was released.
